A Lent You Will Want To Experience

When I was young, I always managed (usually on Tuesday night) to think of something to “give up” with the promise of doing my best.  To be honest, some years Lent was more of a chore than an experience of gratitude and growth.  As I grew older, 40 days of repentance and continual focus on my unworthiness wasn’t sitting well – it didn’t “ring true” anymore. Since then, Life has showered me with a continuous flow of wise instructors and thousands of experiences, providing the stage for me to understand Wisdom’s teachings.  In time, I came to “know” and experience “The Good News” in my life.  The belief that “I-am-broken-unworthy-and-somehow-flawed-so-please-forgive-me-and-fix-me-for-the-thousandth-time” gave re-birth to something I had known deep down, but had forgotten.    What is the Good News?  The naming and claiming of who I really am and who You really are:  I am loved.  I come from Love.  I am Love.  I am worthy.  I am enough.  I am a creator.  I am joyful.  I am whole.  I am free. AND… You are loved.  You come from Love.  You are Love.  You are worthy.  You are enough.  You are a creator.  You are joyful.  You are whole.  You are free. (!!!!!!) I have come to know that Jesus re-minds us who we really are!  While on earth, Jesus perceived only His follower’s well-being; because of this, illness could not reside near him.  (examples: Matthew 8:14-15, Mark 3:7-10, Luke 7:11-15, John 4:46-53)  The same is true for us today.  Jesus/God/Source sees only who we really are, offering Well-Being for all!  There is no ‘dark switch’.  (That’s “Good News”, if you ask me!)  The adventurer who “Comes to the Edge Today” develops this “knowing”: Because only Love exists, it is our free-will choice to follow the path of Well-Being and Love or it is our free-will to resist it.  If we choose to accept and allow who we really are, then we are free to soar and leap into the life of our dreams!  Jesus did not ask us to grovel.  He said, “I say to you stand up!  Take your mat with you, and return to your house.”  Luke 5:24.   This Lent, let us stand up and acknowledge who we really are! Today’s “leaping” exercise:  These 40 days of Lent, explore the “Good News” about who you really are!  Commit to becoming aware of the ‘You’ that Jesus/God/Source sees.  Each day, acknowledge a minimum of 3-5 aspects of yourself that you think Source sees.  (For example:  1. I am a loving person.  2. I am creative in my work.  3. I always make a point to see the good in others.) Write them in your journal.  Then, on Easter Sunday, enjoy reading all of your entries and rejoice because you will have re-membered who you really are!  Added “leaping exercise:  Read the 4 Gospels.  Use this lens while reading (see evidence of these statements):  Jesus experiences His followers by seeing only who they really are.  He calls forth their Well-Being and Wholeness.  (What new insights about Jesus are you finding?  What new insights about you are you discovering?)  Keep notes in your journal You really are amazing! – Joan Kappes  http://www.dreamstime.com/-image22083187Subscribe to “Come to the Edge Today” to receive (via email) life-changing ‘how-to’s, inspiration, insights and as always, the invitation from Life to ‘Come to the Edge Today!’ so you can finally live your life in joy!
