I Am An Oak Tree
I am an Oak Tree
A Poem by Joan Kappes
Content with being who I am with no desire of being another
I am an Oak Tree
My growth is slow, steady and sure
I am an Oak Tree
My Roots are deep and wide
I am an Oak Tree
Whose trunk is filled with years of wisdom-bearing rings
I am an Oak Tree
My boughs bend and sway with the wind and rain
I let go of one season, rest, then embrace the next
I am an Oak Tree
Offering shade and nourishment to those in need
I am an Oak Tree
I have all that I need
I am an Oak Tree
Living only in the Now
My leaves open eagerly to absorb the warmth and nourishment of Light
I am an Oak Tree
I know who I am – Solid, Majestic, Beautiful
I am an Oak Tree
I AM.
