Usually, my day is filled with accomplishing the many tasks always in my head or on my “To Do” list. Today however, my attention was drawn to experiencing the perfection of this Summer’s Day…..
The perfection of the blue sky.
Robins singing joyfully in the distance.
The hum of an insect flying by.
A plethora of brown bugs feasting on weeds in the garden.
The smell of compost completing the circle of life.
The grass standing tall, eagerly soaking in the sunshine.
The flowers shining in full bloom.
The weeds also shining in full bloom.
None were anxious or fretting.
A wellspring of life being lived right before my eyes! All I had to do was stop and notice.
What happened next made the experience even more rich! I heard this in my head: “Consider the lilies of the field. They neither toil nor spin.” When I looked up the complete Bible verse, this is what I read:
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father (the Source of All) feeds them. Are not you more important than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span? Why are you anxious about clothes? Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin. But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of these.” Matthew 6: 25-29
Today’s “leaping” exercise: Go outside right now (yes, now! 🙂 ). Spend 5-10 minutes noticing the nature and life that surrounds you. Think of nothing. No need to analyze or judge or comment. Just notice and be open to hearing what loving message is being sent to you. When complete, just breath and appreciate your experience. Repeat daily.
When looking through the eyes of Source, All is well.
